The 'Stones' legacy Print E-mail
Rolling Stones-inspired road names are to be used in the third phase of The Bridge development in Dartford, where Mick Jagger and Keith Richards grew up.
Eleven road names, including Stones Avenue and Satisfaction Street, were approved subject to further consultation by Dartford Borough Council's Cabinet.

Wayne Hemingway, collaborative designer on The Bridge, came up with the idea alongside Dartford Borough Council Leader, Jeremy Kite.

Wayne said: "Using the Stones for road names at The Bridge gives this new community a unique sense of history, but also highlights Dartford's immense contribution to our modern music culture. It will be fun to live on a road with a rock star legacy. The locals have been getting in the swing with suggestions like ‘Lets call the bicycle shelters "Gimme Shelters"'"

The Bridge is a £350m mixed-use regeneration project that is being developed as a joint venture with Dartford Borough Council and ProLogis Developments. TaylorWimpey, is building 1,134 new homes as part of the integrated masterplan designed to transform this 264-acre Brownfield site into a dynamic new community for Dartford

There are currently over 300 people living at The Bridge, the first phase is over 80 per cent sold out. A range of homes, from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, are currently available from just £159,995.

The complete list of proposed street names is Stones Avenue, Ruby Tuesday Drive, Little Red Walk from Little Red Rooster, Angie Mews, Babylon Close, Dandelion Row, Lady Jane Walk, Cloud Close, Rainbow Close, Satisfaction Street and Sympathy Street.
