Health & Safety Workshop Print E-mail

If you're currently drowning in mounds of paperwork and struggling to keep up to speed with the latest health and safety legislation then the Chamber's lunchtime Health and Safety Awareness workshop is tailor-made for you.

The workshop is being held at the Chamber offices from 1pm until 2.15pm on 21 May and is supported by Backing Kent Business and run by GEP Safety Consultants.

GEP managing director George Poku will outline recent and important new Statutory Law and Regulatory requirements, where businesses have compliance, or a duty of care obligations to employees, visitors or other persons who may be affected by the company's undertaking. h__s.jpgSubjects covered will include:

THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFENCES ACT 2008:

The Health and Safety (Offences) Act 2008 received Royal Assent on 16th October 2008 and came into
Effect on 16th January 2009.  This Act raises the maximum penalties for Health and Safety breaches in the lower courts and makes imprisonment an option for offenders.  This presentation will help businesses identify key aspects of Health & Safety Risk Management in order to avoid any breaches.

ASBESTOS - THE DUTY TO MANAGE:

The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006 places legal duties on employers and those in control of premises to identify Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM's) in the workplace, and manage any ACM's that are to remain insitu.  This presentation will discuss duty of care in respect of ‘Management' of ACM's and how this can be best achieved
