Multi Area Agreements (MAAs) bring together local authorities, other public agencies and potentially private sector partners to deliver benefits to residents and drive forward regeneration programmes. North Kent offers a good opportunity to form an agreement and for the past six months, Dartford, Gravesham, Swale, Medway and Kent County Council have been working to develop an MAA.For North Kent the following themes are proposed. Skills, employment, highways, transport and housing. Other areas under consideration are a proposed Dartford River Crossing Study. The Department of Transport (DfT) has commissioned a study into ways to address capacity issues at the Dartford Crossing. The study looks at solutions to the year 2037 and has assessed the following options: * Option A - Additional capacity at the existing Dartford Crossing * Option B - Swanscombe Peninsula link A2 to the A1089 * Option C - East of Gravesend and link to the M20 * Option D - M2 link to Canvey Island * Option E - Isle of Grain to east of Southend A copy of the study is available at: http://www.dft.gov.uk/about/strategy/capacityrequirements/dartfordrivercrossing/ |
