Right now, Grants for Business Investment (GBI) are available to companies in Swale, Medway and Thameside areas. If your company is looking to expand or modernise in Kent, create new jobs and is planning to invest £50,000 or more to increase productivity, it could be eligible for a grant of up to 20 per cent of the eligible capital costs of your project.
To qualify businesses need to be taking a new product, service or process into production and have a client base that extends beyond Kent and Medway, serving regional, national and international markets. Sittingbourne-based Ecoffins, which manufactures eco-friendly coffins, was awarded £50,000 under the Grant for Business investment scheme to assist its growth The company is using its grant to help fund the building of a highly environmentally friendly office. GBI grants are delivered by Finance South East and funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).
