The recent sell out launch of the Business Innovation Group (BIG) promised to help Kent businesses tap into a wealth of public sector funding, contracts, bidding and collaborative projects.
Partnered by the University of Greenwich, South East Business Innovation and Growth (SEBIG), Thames Gateway (Kent) Chamber of Commerce and Partnership for Profit, the group will be running a number of procurement events. The series kicked off with 2012 tendering for all types of contracts at all levels including the Olympic legacy. This includes maintenance for remaining buildings and also dismantling and erecting elsewhere. For the first time the Olympic build and event servicing has gone out to small companies. In the past year the Chamber has been instrumental in setting up Young Chamber North Kent and students from Leigh Technology Academy, Dartford and Fort Pitt Grammar School for Girls, Rochester, attended the launch and also visited the School of Engineering on the Medway campus.Universities are now giving extensive support to business with innovation and graduate work placement assistance. It is hoped BIG will help companies become more competitive and boost Kent’s economy. . |
