Thames Gateway (Kent) Chamber of Commerce realised after being part of the successful Medway Business Awards sponsors for many years, that it needed to introduce awards to both the Swale, Dartford and Gravesham areas.

Businesses appreciate recognition from their peers and local sponsors who in these competitions are ranked amongst the top in their region. All the sponsorship income is used for the awards events, from the staging to the awards cheques.

Entering the competition is quite simple. All entrants must complete the published entry form from either their local newspaper namely the Dartford, Gravesham and Medway Messengers, or through one of the sponsors, then complete the business questionnaire that will be sent out for the free profile in the local newspaper and judging.

Entry requirements stipulate your turnover is no more than £5.6m and that you have been in business for more than one year in the awards allocated postcode area which ties into each council's boundary.

The judging panel, made up from the business awards sponsors then sifts through all the entrants and choose 12 finalists (this is sometimes increased for special awards).  All entrants are then notified if they have or have not been successful and reached the final 12.

These are then booked in for a visit by the judges who will then decide on who the overall winners are.  A gala night event invitation is sent out to all finalists who then receive four free tickets for the three course meal with wine at a local prestigious venue.

All finalists receive a framed finalists certificate and the winners additional awards trophies plus a substantial cheque.
